At least once each year, women from within and outside of the church family participate in a weekend retreat experience. These days of "Sabbath" - a time of rest and reflection - are held in a nearby retreat center environment and provide opportunities for spiritual growth and personal enrichment. Through moments of solitude, study, discussion, meditation, and even physical movement, women have enjoyed experiences of healing and self-actualization as they expand their understanding of their relationship with God and the world around them.
When prayer requests are made known to the church office, members of our First Church Prayer Group are notified via computer email, resulting in a circle of prayer that quickly envelops individuals and identified concerns.
You must be the change you wish to see in the world. - Mahatma Gandhi

Members of our First Church Shelter Ministry Team will tell you that they are inspired each time they participate in their music ministry to the homeless. On the first Monday of each month at 7:30pm, a group of First Church volunteers meet at the City of Cleveland/Cuyahoga County Emergency Shelter Location for Women and Children for an hour of singing, worship, and praise. Taking with them foods and bakery prepared by church members, our volunteers offer physical and spiritual nourishment to the homeless residents of the overnight shelter and engage them in the singing and hearing of favorite hymns and gospel songs.
The members of this group know first-hand that inspirational moments - even meditative and reflective moments - often occur as they give of themselves to others.
